The main structure has been described as the “tree house” because most to the principal rooms, including the generous master suite, are located on the second floor to afford vistas from the tree-tops. This is an architecturally-designed and custom build 3200 square foot year- round cottage. The craftsmanship in this building is truly notable with post and beam construction throughout. The workmanship in the hand crafted roof trusses, the post and beam construction, is at a level that is not often seen. Outside one finds towering stone columns which support upper level decks and frame the entrance. Also a floor-to-ceiling granite fireplace rises majestically in the main living area. There are large principal rooms, where one finds that the finest of materials have been used throughout. An example of this is in the kitchen and pantry with granite counter tops, custom designed cabinetry and top-of-the line appliances from Miele and Heartland. Everywhere you look, you see fine finishes such as pegged wide-plank hemlock flooring. There are decks on all four sides of this structure which afford incredible views in all directions. There is an open deck on the north-west side of the cottage, covered decks on the east, south and west. Two sections of this covered deck (on the east and west) are screened-in and allow for a wonderful cross flow of breezes during warm summer days.
On the first floor you find two bedrooms and a bathroom on the south side of the building. To the north you discover a utility/laundry room, family room and in-law suite with ensuite bathroom. Wonderful rock gardens surround the house and property with wood chip pathways leading to various parts of the peninsula, including the cabin.
Off on the south side of the property and adjacent to the beach is a wonderful 400 square foot sleeping cabin with a principal living area, bedroom and bathroom. This is a place for guests or younger family members to escape to their own private enclave.
Not many cottages on Georgian Bay have such a sound base for operation, with a full pored basement, with foam insulation inside and out. Full water filtration, ultraviolet, and a heated-line water intake mean that this building can truly be used year round. There are two tile beds in place to ensure proper sewage treatment for the two buildings which have a total of 5 bathrooms.
