Ugo Igo Island
Ugo Igo is a stunning and much storied island in the Pointe au Baril area of Georgian Bay.
With safe, deep water access from the mainland marinas, and just moments from the Ojibway Club, it was one of the first islands to be settled in the early days of cottageing in the area.
The 4.4 acre island is smooth flat granite, natural stone pathways leading through lush forests to magnificent views to the open, several protected harbours and wonderful swimming.
The island features a two bedroom main cottage, two bedroom guest cottage, a one bedroom sleeping cabin, a two slip boathouse with large deck and docking and a utility building.
All of the structures on the island are clad in cedar shingle and interiors are finished in pine. The main cottage has a metal roof, other buildings cedar shingle.
The island is entirely off the grid supported by a state of the art solar system sufficient for all of the island's requirements.
The Main Cottage
Situated in a clearing in the forest, the 850 sq. ft. main cottage has an open plan kitchen/ dining room, living room with Rais wood burning stove, children's playroom and bedroom at the north end of the structure and private master at the south end.
The west wall is fully glazed exposing views through a screen of pines to the water
and French doors open from the bedrooms, living room and playroom stepping out onto a broad flat natural granite patio spacious enough to accommodate a barbeque, dining and sunning areas.
The 3 piece bath has an open air private shower.
The Two Bedroom Guest Cottage
Sited at the western tip of the island the 2 bedroom guest cottage is surrounded by water on three sides and overlooks a white sand beach protected by outcroppings of granite. The beach is an ideal place for children to wade and learn to swim and for sailors and kayakers to launch water craft.
The 650 sq. ft. cottage has a private master bedroom, a second large, bed sitting room and a 4 piece bath with outdoor shower.
The Second Guest Cottage
Modeled on an earlier structure on the same site, the 175 sq. ft. second guest cottage, at water's edge, has one bedroom, a two piece adjoining bath and an open front porch.
Located in a quiet bay, the 785 sq. ft. two slip boathouse has generous storage space for all marine related equipment. Three docks allow tie up for a number of boats and a large deck linking the boathouse to shore is perfect for entertaining dockside and for welcoming guests.
The Utility Building
The utility building houses the solar operating system, UV water purification system, extra fridge/freezers and other mechanical.
With the existing cottages discreetly situated around the island and with the ability to add an additional sleeping cabin Ugo Igo would be ideal as an extended family compound. The close proximity to the Ojibway Inn, offering tennis, children’s camp, social clubs and fine dining assure unlimited activities in the immediate vicinity.
